What is SENUA and what makes it different?
SENUA is a skincare brand inspired by Indonesia’s natural richness and the beauty of simplicity. We create uncomplicated skincare using thoughtfully selected ingredients and modern cosmetic formulation expertise.
Our philosophy is simple:
Cleanse → Protect → Nourish
Rather than creating complicated routines with multiple products, SENUA focuses on three essential aspects of everyday skincare: cleansing, protection, and nourishment.
Are SENUA products “chemical-free” or made entirely from natural ingredients?
No. SENUA does not claim to be chemical-free, and we believe “chemical-free” is not an accurate or meaningful way to describe skincare.
Our formulations combine plant-derived, naturally inspired, and scientifically developed cosmetic ingredients, each selected for a specific purpose—such as cleansing, moisturising, stabilising the formula, protecting the skin, or improving texture.
For example, our Facial Foam combines gentle cleansing agents with glycerin and botanical extracts, while our Mineral Sunscreen combines mineral UV filters with skin-conditioning ingredients.
For SENUA, the focus is not whether an ingredient is simply “natural” or “chemical,” but whether it has a clear purpose, is appropriately formulated, and contributes to a comfortable skincare experience.
What makes SENUA Facial Foam different from other SLS-free cleansers?
Being SLS-free is only one part of the formulation.
SENUA Facial Foam uses a combination of Coco Glycoside and Cocamidopropyl Betaine as its cleansing system, supported by vegetable glycerin and selected botanical ingredients including rice, ginseng, red raspberry and mulberry extracts.
This gives SENUA a different formulation approach from simply removing SLS from a conventional cleanser.
It is designed to provide effective everyday cleansing while helping the skin feel clean and comfortable rather than excessively tight after cleansing.
It is also formulated without SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate).
Why is this important?
Many people associate a rich lather with a stronger or better cleanser. However, more foam does not necessarily mean better cleansing. The cleansing experience depends on the surfactant system and the overall formulation.
SENUA focuses on the balance between cleansing, comfort and skin feel rather than maximum foam.
Why doesn’t SENUA Facial Foam produce as much foam as some other cleansers?
Foam is primarily a sensory characteristic—it does not determine how effectively a cleanser removes everyday dirt, oil and impurities.
SENUA Facial Foam uses Coco Glycoside and Cocamidopropyl Betaine rather than SLS. As a result, the lather may feel different from high-foaming traditional cleansers.
The goal is not to create the most foam.
The goal is to create a comfortable everyday cleansing experience.
What makes SENUA Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 different?
SENUA Mineral Sunscreen uses Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide as its mineral UV-filtering ingredients.
What makes the formulation interesting is that the mineral filters are combined with a broader skin-care formulation, including:
• Niacinamide
• Acetyl Glucosamine
• Centella Asiatica Extract
• Mulberry Bark Extract
• Apple Fruit Extract
• Green Tea Extract
• Broussonetia Kazinoki Root Extract
• Camellia Japonica Leaf Extract
• Glycerin
• Saccharide Isomerate
So SENUA Mineral Sunscreen is designed not only around UV protection, but also around skin conditioning and moisturisation.
Rather than saying it is universally “better” than every other mineral sunscreen, we describe its difference through its combination of mineral UV filters and skin-supporting ingredients in one formulation.
Why choose a mineral sunscreen?
Mineral sunscreens use mineral UV filters such as Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide.
SENUA takes this mineral approach while incorporating additional skincare ingredients into the formulation.
The result is a sunscreen positioned as part of an everyday skincare routine:
Cleanse → Protect
As with any sunscreen, the actual level of protection depends on the finished product’s validated testing and regulatory requirements.
What makes SENUA Repair Body Butter different from a regular body lotion?
SENUA Repair Body Butter uses a waterless, anhydrous formulation.
Instead of using water as a major component of the formula, the formulation is built around rich butters, oils and emollients, including:
Shea Butter + Mango Butter + Jojoba Oil + Apricot Kernel Oil + Red Raspberry Seed Oil + Camellia Oil, supported by ingredients such as cetyl alcohol, candelilla wax and caprylic/capric triglyceride.
This creates a richer, more concentrated body-care experience compared with a conventional water-based lotion.
The formulation is also made without parabens.
What does “waterless” mean, and why does SENUA use this approach?
A waterless body-care formula means no water is intentionally added as an ingredient in the formulation.
SENUA Repair Body Butter instead focuses on butters, oils and emollients to provide a rich moisturising experience.
This approach allows the product to have a naturally rich texture and makes the formulation particularly suited to areas of the body that tend to feel dry and in need of nourishment.
Waterless does not mean “chemical-free.” It simply describes the formulation structure.
Are SENUA products vegan, cruelty-free and paraben-free?
SENUA products are vegan and cruelty-free.
Our Repair Body Butter is also formulated without parabens.
However, ingredient claims can differ between products. We therefore encourage customers to check the individual product ingredient list rather than assuming that one formulation characteristic applies to every SENUA product.
Our approach is transparency: we tell you what is in the product rather than relying on broad “free-from” marketing claims.
Is SENUA certified and how does SENUA ensure product quality?
SENUA products will undergo the required BPOM registration process before being made available for sale in Indonesia.
Our quality journey includes:
BPOM → Registration Process
LAB TESTED → Quality & Safety Testing
HALAL → Certification in Progress
ORGANIC → Certification in Progress*
SENUA is also pursuing Halal certification, while Organic certification is being pursued for selected products, currently including the Facial Foam and Repair Body Butter.
“Certification in progress” means that the relevant certification process has commenced, but the final certificate has not yet been issued.
Once official certifications are obtained, the relevant information will be made available through SENUA’s website or customer service channels.
*Organic certification applies to selected products and remains subject to the relevant certification and assessment process.
